The Family Characteristics Scale (FCS) is a 28 item parent- or self-report questionnaire that assesses family characteristics related to executive functioning, such as organization, planning, impulsivity, flexibility, focus, and emotional control. Rather than focusing on individual behaviors or executive functioning skills, the FCS evaluates executive functioning-related characteristics of the family environment and family members’ behaviors. For more detailed information about the FCS, please see the links below, starting with the “FCS Permission and Use” document. A description of FCS content and subscales is contained in the document “FCS Scoring and Interpretation.” You can access FCS documents below by clicking on the headings. The FCS is a psychological test intended for use only by qualified professionals. Before using the FCS, you must agree to the “FCS Permission and Use” document (please be sure to send the exact wording in the document to the email address) and obtain permission from the scale author, William Kronenberger, Ph.D., at wkronenb@iu.edu. You will then be provided with a free password to open the files.
